          Guillermo Silveira's Biography

          Spanish painter and sculptor, considered a pioneer of avant-garde art, self-taught and better known only as “Silveira.”
          His most notable works include the neo-baroque figure of the Virgen de los Ángeles plus two lateral bas-reliefs that occupy the central chapel of the Puerta de Palmas de Badajoz (1960), the works entitled Structure No. 6 or Fragua (1966) and Escultopintura para a meditation (1971), the oil painting Factories, originally located in the Trade Union School of Vocational Training in Fregenal de la Sierra (1966), the two mosaics of religious iconography expressly intended to decorate the porch of the school chapel of the Casas Aisladas de Valdebótoa (1967) and several other works in three dimensions.
          He died at 11:00 AM on 11 May 1987 at his family home in Badajoz at age 65.
