French stage and film actor, and a member of the Comédie-Française.
Having come to the attention of André Antoine while playing at the théâtre des Gobelins, Grand joined the troupe of the Theater-Libre in October 1889 and appeared in the play Le Père Lebonnard in the role of Robert. Then he created the roles of Nello in Les Frères Zenganno, Grayers Verle in Le Canard Sauvage, Jacques Maresse in Les Fourches caudines and Rastignac in Le Père Goriot. Noticed by critics and troupe directors alike, he then began a career in Vaudeville before entering the Comédie-Française in 1906.
He was married from 1916 until his death to the actress Gabrielle Colonna-Romano.
He died suddenly of a heart attack on 30 March 1921, aged 56, in Paris.
