Georges Deneubourg's Biography
French stage and film actor who began his career in the theatre, playing several times with Sarah Bernhardt, notably in L’Aiglon by Edmond Rostand in 1900 (with Lucien Guitry) and Angelo, tyran de Padoue by Victor Hugo in 1905 (with Maxime Desjardins). He also trod the boards with Ida Rubinstein in Le Secret du Sphynx de Maurice Rostand in 1924, and with Madame Simone in La Vierge au grand cœur de François Porché in 1925.
In cinema, he appeared for the first time in La Reine Élisabeth (Queen Elisabeth), a silent short film by Henri Desfontaines and Louis Mercanton (with Sarah Bernhardt in the title role), released in 1912. Then, from 1917, he shot over forty more films, mainly French, the last being Madame Bovary by Jean Renoir (with Valentine Tessier and Pierre Renoir), released in 1933.
He also appeared in L’Abbé Constantin by Julien Duvivier (1925, with Jean Coquelin and Pierre Stéphen), Les Nouveaux Messieurs by Jacques Feyder (1929, with Gaby Morlay and Albert Préjean), and L’Aiglon by Victor Tourjansky (1931, with Jean Weber and Victor Francen).
He died on 23 March 1936 in Couilly-Pont-aux-Dames, Seine-et-Marne, France.
