          George B. McClellan's Biography

          American military man who, during the Civil War, served for a limited time as the General-In-Chief of all U.S. armies. As a brilliant organizer, he was an engineer in the Mexican War and a Chief Engineer of the Illinois Central Railroad in 1857, then Vice-President. McClellan later become the President of the Ohio and Mississippi Railroads and the Governor of New Jersey from 1878-1881.
          In 1864 he was the Democratic presidential candidate.
          McClellan died of heart disease on October 29, 1885, Orange, NJ.
