          Gavin MacLeod's Biography

          American actor, best known for the TV series McHale’s Navy (1962–1964), The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970-1977) and The Love Boat (1977-1987).
          McLeod gained weight up to 118 kg (260 lbs) at one time before trimming down to his usual 86 kg (190 lbs). He was first married from 1973 to 1981. He became the companion of minister Terry Cole-Whittaker in late 1981.
          He co-hosted Christian shows with his second wife Pat on Trinity Broadcasting Network for 17 years. He had four children.
          In 2013, MacLeod released his memoir, This Is Your Captain Speaking: My Fantastic Voyage Through Hollywood, Faith & Life. The book recalls his upbringing, as well as his life after more than fifty years in Hollywood.
          MacLeod died at his home in Palm Desert, California, on 29 May 2021, aged 90, after a period of ill health.
