Fritz Selbmann's Biography
German political activist and Communist politician who served as a member of the national parliament (Reichstag) during 1932-1933. He spent the twelve Nazi years first in prison and then, after 1940, in a succession of concentration camps, but survived. After 1945 he became a senior party official and author in the German Democratic Republic.
Along with a number of novels, which enjoyed modest success on the domestic market in their day, he wrote an autobiography, Acht Jahre und ein Tag.
