          Fritz Rausenberger's Biography

German weapons technician who designed pipes and anti-tank grenades for the navy and the first German disappearance launcher (declared outdated by the British Army in 1912). In 1907 he wrote the standard work Theorie der Rohrrücklaufgeschütze (theory of pipe recoil guns).
When, in the autumn of 1914, the Prussian Supreme Command considered how to bombard the English port of Dover from the French coast of the Channel, Rausenberger proposed a low-lofted shell. At first tests in Meppen, the bullet flew further than expected, as he had not taken into account the decrease in air resistance at high altitudes. With his assistant Otto von Eberhard he developed the Paris gun.
After he had retired in 1920, he was appointed to the Supervisory Board of Krupp AG the following year.
He died on 28 April 1926 in Munich, aged 58.
