          Fritz Peters's Biography

American writer. He first encountered spiritual teacher George Gurdjieff at the age of 11. He arrived at the Gurdjieff institute at Château du Prieuré in Avon, France, under the care of his mother’s sister, Margaret Anderson, where he took on the role of Gurdjieff’s personal assistant and errand-boy, also receiving an hour of personal tuition each week. Peters returned to the USA, but was to have a string of meetings with Gurdjieff in subsequent years. He wrote a reminiscence of his time with Gurdjieff (as well as the novel Finistere), but was never a central figure in the US Work groups. He died on December 19, 1979.
