          Friedrich Moritz's Biography

          German physician and internist whose main interest was clinical cardiovascular medicine. He developed a portable blood pressure measuring device and a radiographic method for the determination of heart size (orthodiography), studied the physiology and pathology of the heart, and performed physiological examinations of circulatory function and warmth. In addition, he also dealt with the subject of sports and physical stress as well as physiological and pathological metabolic processes (eg. diabetes mellitus). His other research areas were healthy diets and dietetics.
          He died on 12 January 1938 in Cologne, aged 76.
