          Freddy Heineken's Biography

Dutch industrialist who built an Amsterdam brewery into one of the world’s biggest brewing companies. His name, Heineken, was synonymous with his product. He served as chairman of the board of directors and CEO from 1971 until 1989. He was the grandson of Gerard Adriaan Heineken, who was the founder of the brewery Heineken.
On 9 November 1983, he was kidnapped for a ransom of 35 million guilders. The money was paid and he was released on 30 November 1983. Most of the money was found after he was returned to safety, but 8 million guilders have yet to be recovered.
Heineken died of pneumonia on 3 January 2002 at around 6pm, aged 78, in Noordwijk, Netherlands. At the time of his death, Heineken was one of the richest people in the Netherlands, with a net worth of 9.5 billion guilders.
