          Franz Radziwill's Biography

          German painter who was a major representative of magical realism, a sub-form of the New Objectivity. His work comprises about 800 paintings.
          He spent most of his life in the North Sea resort Dangast in Varel on Jade Bay. During the period of National Socialism, he was repeatedly banned from exhibiting three of his early works in the exhibition Degenerate Art. Despite the ban on the exhibition he committed himself to the Nazis and was a functionary of the Nazi Party. He did address the tension between technology and nature.
          He died on 12 August 1983, aged 88, in Wilhelmshaven.
