American journalist, a broadcaster from 1947, and a news and war correspondent, from May 1968 to December 1970 he was co-anchor of “ABC Evening News.” He was Chief Anchor man of “World News Tonight” from 1978 until his death, winning the George Foster Peabody Award in 1979.
Reynolds married in 1947; five sons. Severely ill with viral hepatitis from mid-April 1983, he died on 20 July 1983, aged 59.
