Francisco Rojas Tollinchi's Biography
Puerto Rican poet and journalist. At age 16 he had to leave school to help his family financially. Later he managed to graduate from high school. In 1934, he married Ellen Cummings and together they had thirteen children. He had several jobs before working for the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority of Puerto Rico (AAA), the government agency that controls all functions of storing and distributing water. There was linked to union activities, becoming part of the union leadership. From 1962 to 1964, Rojas Tollinchi founded and was the CEO of “The Well”, a monthly newspaper of the Union of Employees of the AAA. In that same media he published part of his poetry. He moved to Ponce in 1959, and lived there until his death in February 1965.
