Norwegian history professor and chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee (which awards the Nobel Peace Price).
Sejersted was a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee from 1982 to 1999, and from 1991 to 1995 served as its chairman. From 1990 to 1999 he was a board member of the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm. He was chairman of the organisation Fritt Ord from 2000 to 2011. In 1985 he became a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
