          Francis Grant Ogilvie's Biography

          Scottish educator, museum director, and scientist. From 1900 to 1903 he was Director of the Edinburgh Museum of Science and Art. In 1910 he was Secretary of the Board for the Science Museum, South Kensington, London, the Geological Museum and the Geological Survey, and in August 1911 was given additional responsibility as Director of the Science Museum.
          On 13 December 1930, Ogilvie was travelling by train from London to Edinburgh to visit relatives, when he was taken suddenly ill. He died a few hours after arriving at his destination, on 14 December 1930, aged 72.
