Florence Birdwell's Biography
American educator, musician, and singer, sometimes referred to as Flo Birdwell. She taught musical theater and opera singing for more than six decades. She served as a professor of voice at the Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University from 1946 to 2013, and afterwards periodically teaching masterclasses as a professor emeritus.
Birdwell’s students included Kristin Chenoweth, Kelli O’Hara, Lara Teeter and Miss America 1981 Susan Powell.
She married Robert Lee “Bob” Birdwell in 1945 and they had three children. Bob and their youngest son predeceased her. She died on 15 February 2021 at age 96 in Yukon, Oklahoma.
