Finn Carling's Biography
Norwegian novelist, playwright, poet, and essayist. He made his literary debut in 1949 with “Broen” (‘The bridge’) (two short stories and a one-act play). Carling was born with serious cerebral palsy and writes about his childhood and adolescence in the autobiographical novel “Kilden og muren” (‘The source and the wall’) (1958). He was head of the Norwegian Authors’ Union 1966-1968 and government scholar from 1971.
Carling died on 12 March 2004 in Oslo, Norway, aged 78.
