Ferdinand Dirichs's Biography
German clergyman who served as Roman Catholic Bishop of Limburg from 1947 to 1948.
On 23 December 1922 Dirichs was received into the Imperial Cathedral of St. Bartholomew in Frankfurt am Main with the sacrament of Holy Orders. During the Third Reich he was a diocesan youth pastor and an outspoken opponent of the Nazi regime.
After the death of Bishop Antonius Hilfrich, Dirichs was appointed as his successor by Pope Pius XII in 1947 and as the Pontifical Commissioner for the Pastoral Care of the Internally Displaced Persons.
After one year in office Dirichs died on 27 December 1948 in a traffic accident on the Federal Highway 3 at Idstein.
