          Eugen Gantter's Biography

          German journalist and writer whose books include three memoirs, a songbook and Handbuch der deutschen Einheitskurzschrift (Manual of German standard shorthand, 1926).
          The son of a professor at the Stuttgart Polytechnic, he was one of the seven so-called Prinzenbuben, who were taught together with the later King Wilhelm II. In 1867 he moved to the University of Tübingen, where he joined the Ghibellinia country team. In March 1870 he completed his doctorate.
          When the Franco-Prussian War broke out, he reported to the Olga Grenadiers. After military service, he worked for the Schwäbischen Merkur, among other newspapers.
          Eugen Gantter died on 15 April 1931 in Frankfurt am Main at age 83.
