          Erik Pierstorff's Biography

          Norwegian philologist, journalist, and theater man who he studied literature at Colgate University 1945-47 and worked for the Associated Press 1949-50. After studies at the Sorbonne 1951-52, in Sweden and mag.art. from the University of Oslo in 1957, he became a journalist at Morgenbladet.
          He was theatre director at Trøndelag Theater 1966-70, with a young Stein Winge as assistant. He brought in Swedish Eva Sköld and gave the young Kjetil Bang-Hansen his directorial debut in 1967. The association PLUTO was an acronym of Pierstorff Lets Young Talents Perform. He was also known for incorporating Wesensteen into the repertoire. He was the leader of the Theater Critics Association.
          Pierstorff died of a cerebral haemorrhage on 18 September 1984 age 58.
