          Else Reval's Biography

German actress who performed supporting roles in more than 160 films from 1919 to 1963, playing florists, sausage saleswomen and, most of all, cooks. Despite the large number of her film appearances, the entertainment media hardly took any notice of her, and she remained unknown to most cinema audiences.
After ballet training she performed under her birth name as early as 1907 as a dancer at the Deutschen Oper in Berlin and at the Königlichen Schauspiel in Wiesbaden until 1912, and then became a solo dancer at the Stadttheater Essen.
In 1914 she returned to Berlin, appearing at the Komischen Oper, the Metropoltheater and the Komödie. In the 1920s Else Reval appeared in many silent films. She became a busy movie actress and easily continued her career into the talkie era.
In 1955, Else Reval moved to Karlsruhe, where she accepted a position at the Badisches Staatstheater, remaining there until 1963 and then returning to Berlin, appearing at the Hansa Theater. She also worked in radio and television.
Else Reval died on 25 January 1978 in Berlin, aged 84.
