          Edward Stilgebauer's Biography

          German pacifist and author of novels, stories, poems and plays. While he was a successful author until the 1920s, his works were no longer published after 1933 in Germany. On 29 March 1934, the second expatriation list of the German Reich was published, by which he was expatriated.
          He died on 18 December 1936 in San Remo, Italy, aged 68.
          In 1938, at the instigation of the National Socialist (Nazi) rulers, he was posthumously denied the title of Doctor of the University of Tübingen and his complete works were included in the “List of Harmful and Unwanted Literature” in the same year.
