          Eduard Meijers's Biography

          Dutch jurist, the founding father of the Dutch civil code, the Nieuw Burgerlijk Wetboek.
          He was the son of Isidor Meijers, a naval physician in Den Helder and GP in Amsterdam and Julie Wolff.
          Summer 1897 Meijers graduated at the Gymnasium in Amsterdam and started in September 1897 his study Law at the UvA. On 3 April 1903 he presented his PhD thesis “Dogmatische rechtswetenschap” (dogmatic law) under promotor Johannes Fredericus Houwing (17 April 1857 12h00, Blokzijl – 10 March 1921, Doorn).
          Personal
          Eduard married on 12 August 1909 Tonij Gottschalk. The couple got four daughters.
