Eduard Kaufmann's Biography
German physician for whom the disease Abderhalden–Kaufmann–Lignac syndrome is named. Kaufmann undertook the first study of cartilage changes in achondroplasia. His textbook on pathological anatomy, Lehrbuch der speciellen pathologischen Anatomie, has been translated into numerous foreign languages, including English; Pathology for students and practitioners (3 volumes). He was the author of significant works involving chondrodystrophy and on malignant tumors of the prostate. He died on 15 December 1931 in Göttingen, aged 71.
