Duncan MacRae's Biography
Scottish actor of stage, screen and television whose roles ranged from the classics to comedy. The unique, craggy-faced MacRae is remembered for his role in the BBC television comedy, “Para Handy – Master Mariner,” 1959, and his films included “Whiskey Galore,” 1948 and “Tunes of Glory,” 1960.
MacRae was educated in Glasgow and worked as a teacher prior to becoming a full time actor. In 1943, he began his longtime association with the Citizens’ Theatre in Glasgow, and he first performed in London in 1945. In partnership with the playwright and critic, T. M. Watson, he ran a touring company from 1952-55.
He died 3/23/1967, Glasgow, Scotland.
