Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Charles Edward's Biography
British-born German royalty, the second child and only son of Prince Leopold of England and Princess Helena of Waldeck and Pyrmont, the head of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1900 until his death in 1954, and until 1919, a Prince of the United Kingdom and held the British title of Duke of Albany. His father died four months before his birth, the result of his haeomophilia.
Loyal to Germany during the First World War, due mainly to his title, he later became a central member of the Nazi party.
He died in Coburg, Germany on 6 March 1954.
