3/5 Emotional ProjectorAmerican screen actor whose films include “Love In A Goldfish Bowl” (1961), “The Party” (1968), and “Gravy Train” (1974). He also appeared in two TV series under the name Scott Miller, one of them being “Wagon Train” as Duke Shannon from 1961 to 1964. A muscular blond, he was onscreen from 1959 and played mostly “heavy” roles. He became the first blond Tarzan, playing the title role in “Tarzan, the Ape Man” (1959), a cheapie/quickie which lifted most of its footage from earlier Johnny Weissmuller movies.
He was married, living in Ojai, California as of 1986 with a teenage son. His film career was comprised of supporting roles and he was an advertising executive in Los Angeles. Miller lived with his second wife, Nancy, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and taught classes in relaxation.
Denny Miller wrote an autobiography, “Didn’t You Used to Be…What’s His Name?” and a book about obesity in the United States, “Toxic Waist?…Get to Know Sweat!.”
Miller was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in January 2014. He died in Las Vegas on 9 September 2014 at the age of 80.
