Denis (‘Almendro’) Saunders's Biography
South African astrologer and homeopath, Dr. Saunders is considered the father of astrology in South Africa. He established the first school for Astrology in 1975 and, until 1985, taught four nights per week. He was made a lifetime member of the South African Astrological Association. A teacher, lecturer, and author of several articles, he kept his two careers (homeopathy and astrology) quite separate, because of his sensitivity to the beliefs and religious backgrounds of his homeopathy clients.
He graduated college with honours and, as well as his baccalaureate degree, holds degrees as HD, ND and DO. On December 23, 1944 he married Rosa while he was on a 10-day leave from his World War II duties in Italy. The couple worked together beginning in 1958, she as a nurse, and he as a homeopath. Their marriage yielded children, two of whom survived to witness the couple’s 60th wedding anniversary in 2004, 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He died on July 14, 2005.
