          Dawn Foster's Biography

          British journalist, broadcaster and author, whose books include Lean Out (2016) and Where Will We Live? (2018), a commentary on the UK housing crisis.
          She was a columnist for The Guardian newspaper, writing on housing inequality and austerity, and a staff writer for Jacobin magazine. She also contributed to the London Review of Books, Times Literary Supplement, The Independent, The Nation, Tribune, and Dissent in the United States.
          She grew up in poverty in an unemployed single-parent family, and was placed in the care system as a teenager. She studied English literature at Warwick University.
          She suffered from epilepsy and schwannomatosis and wrote about her disabilities.
          Foster’s friends and colleagues announced her death on 15 July 2021. Foster had been discharged from a London hospital on 9 July and was found in her home, having died suddenly of complications related to her long-term health problems.
