          David Hilbert's Biography

          Prussian mathematician and author who was a professor at Gottingen from 1895 to the end of his life. After the death of Jules Henri Poincare in 1912, he became universally acknowledged as the foremost mathematician of his time.
          It was Hilbert’s custom to work intensively on one subject for several years. He made many achievements of quality and was highly influential in 20th century math; his book, “Foundations of Geometry,” was written in 1899.
          Hilbert died on 2/14/1943, Gottingen, Germany.
