Cor Geurtz's Biography
Dutch supercentenarian, who was the oldest known resident of the Netherlands from the death of 109-year-old Geertruida Draaisma on 12 August 2011 until his death a year later.
Until the end of 2010 Geurtz lived independently in a home for the elderly in Rotterdam. From then on, he had a medical problem with his leg.
Following the death of Jan Pieter Bos, who died at more than 111 years of age in December 2002, the oldest man in the Netherlands had not been so old. Geurtz was also the last surviving Dutch man who was born before 1905.
He eventually died on 21 August 2012, aged over 110 years, in his hometown of Rotterdam.
