          Constance Talmadge's Biography

American silent screen actress. The younger sister of Natalie and Norma Talmadge, she started her film career in 1914. Finding her forte in comedy, she received her big break in the film “Intolerance” that was released in 1916.
Guided by her brother-in-law, Joseph Schenck, she became nearly as successful as her sister Norma. While Norma’s success was in melodrama, Constance was the epitome of sophisticated comedy in which she had no rivals throughout the ’20s.
During the height of her career, she owned her own production company. She retired from the screen during the transition to sound and never appeared in a talkie.
She and her sisters are subjects of Ann Loos biography, “The Talmadge Girls.” She married four times.
Died of pneumonia 11/23/1973, Los Angeles, CA,
