          Christian Wagner's Biography

German poet, recognized as one of the literary outsiders of the late 19th century. His predominantly lyrical work, shaped by a natural philosophy of protecting all living things, cannot be attributed to any direction or school. As a self-taught artist without a higher education, Wagner created works based on high ethical values.
During his lifetime, the author received support from Gustav Landauer, Bruno Wille, Kurt Tucholsky and above all from Hermann Hesse who published a volume of Wagner’s poems in 1913. Christian Wagner died in Warmbronn on 15 February 1918 at age 82.
