American Instagram personality who first gained notoriety through her idealized depiction of being a student at the University of Cambridge in England. Calloway is best known for being an early adopter of using Instagram captions as a storytelling method.
Calloway spent her freshman and sophomore years of high school at the all-boarding Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia. She spent her junior year abroad in Viterbo, Italy with SYA. Calloway spent her senior year of high school at Phillips Exeter Academy. She attended New York University for several years before dropping out. In 2013, she enrolled at Cambridge University.
Calloway began her career on Instagram by buying over 40,000 fake followers. For three months in 2013, Calloway’s best friend Natalie Beach was asked by Calloway to produce captions for her audience that would later make her famous. Beach helped grow Calloway’s audience by thousands of followers. Calloway has stated that she does not run advertisements on her Instagram account, but rather uses it to sell artwork.
Calloway has released four series of visual art. The first were the “Tittays,” tie dye paintings of her own breasts, which sold for between $80 and $140. Calloway’s first book, called SCAMMER, is to be self-published by her management team later in the spring of 2020.
