          Carl W. Stapleton's Biography

          American military careerist who rose to the rank of Major General in the US Air Force. He enlisted in 1935 and retired from the service with several decorations on March 1, 1973. During his career he flew combat missions over Europe during WWII. He was promoted to Major General on August 1, 1969.
          Stapleton died June 12, 1989.
