          Carl Hamel's Biography

          German physician who discovered the presence of basophil-granulated erythrocytes in chronic lead poisoning. His results, drawn up in 1908 on a survey on the detection of skin tuberculosis, made it possible to fight this disease.
          He died on 12 September 1949 in Rhöndorf, aged 79.
