Bill Sefton's Biography
American athlete, a pole vaulter who made his reputation in track and field events at the University of Southern California in the 1930s. He placed fourth in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. On 10 April 1937 he set a record for pole vaulting; on 8 May he set a new record that was tied the same day by Earle Meadows. Sefton and Earle Meadows were teammates at the University of Southern California and collectively known as the “Heavenly Twins”. Sefton died on 2 May 1982 at age 67 in Plano, Texas.
