          Bill Brock's Biography

          American politician, a Senator from Tennessee who lost his re-election bid in 1976, but won the Republican National Chairmanship in a five-way contest on 14 January 1978. He was regarded as a conservative, a backer of Reagan in 1976.
          On 20 March 1985, President Reagan nominated Brock, his international trade negotiator for the prior four years, to replace Raymond J. Donovan as secretary of labor.
          He was the grandson of William Emerson Brock Sr., a Democratic U.S. senator who represented Tennessee from 1929 to 1931.
          Brock married twice and had four children. He died from pneumonia in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on 25 March 2021 at age 90.
