          Benoît Paire's Biography

French professional tennis player, he was a finalist at the Serbian Open and semi-finalist at the Italian Open (defeated by Roger Federer). His best rankings are world 26th in 2013, 24th in July 2015 after having won his first singles title (the Swedish open), and 18th in 2016. On 11 October 2015, he reached the final at the Japan Open (defeated by his friend Stan Wawrinka).
His style of play is characterized by its flashiness, unpredictability and at times inconsistency. The main strength of his game is his double-handed backhand, known for its speed and spin.
Paire is also known for his bad behaviour on court. Representing France at the 2016 Rio Olympics, he was expelled by the French federation for “flouting the rules” and “poor behaviour”. At the 2018 Washington Open, Paire smashed his tennis rackets onto the court 7 times and was fined $16,500 for his actions. At the ATP Cup in Brisbane, on 6 January 2020, he erupted in a mid-game meltdown, spitting on the court, smashing two rackets and throwing a bottle across the court.
