          Benoît Magimel's Biography

          French screen actor who won the 2021 César award for Best Actor for his role as Benjamin in De son vivant (“Peaceful”). In 2001, he won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for his role in Michael Haneke’s La Pianiste (“The Piano Teacher”).
          He began his career at age 14 in the 1988 film La Vie est un long fleuve tranquille (“Life is a long quiet river”) directed by Etienne Chatillez. He was 16 when he decided to abandon his studies. In the early 2000s, he portrayed Louis XIV in Le roi danse and was directed by Michel Houellebecq in La possibilité d’une île. In 2010, he appeared in Les petits mouchoirs directed by Guillaume Canet. On 24 February 2023, he won the Cesar for best actor for his role in “Pacifiction”.
          His first marriage was with Juliette Binoche from 1998 to 2003, they have a daughter, Hannah, born in 1999. He then married Nikita Lespinasse, another actress; they have a daughter Djinina born in 2011, and they divorced in 2015. In 2018 he married Margot Pelletier.
