          Arthur Nussbaum's Biography

          German-born American jurist whose books include Money in the law, 1939, 2nd ed. 1950; Principles of private international law, 1942; A Concise history of the law of nations, 1947, 2nd ed. 1954; and A History of the Dollar, 1957.
          He studied legal science in Berlin from 1894 till 1897. He taught at Humboldt University of Berlin (1918–1933). In 1934, he moved to the United States, and in 1940, he became a US citizen. He taught at Columbia Law School from 1934 until his formal retirement in 1951. He died on 22 November 1964, aged 87, in New York City.
