          Artemio de Valle Arizpe's Biography

          Mexican writer and diplomat. From 1919 he was a diplomat of Mexico in Spain, Belgium and Holland. During his stay in Spain he was part of the Commission for Research and Historical Studies. His contact with the Archive of the Indies was awakened a special interest in the colonial era. On the death of Luis Gonzalez Obregon in 1937 he was appointed chronicler of Mexico City. On 29 August 1924 he was appointed corresponding member of the Mexican Academy of Language, on 2 December 1931 he was appointed a fellow of replacing Victoriano Salado Alvarez in the chair X.
          He died on 15 November 1961.
