          Antonio Carbajal's Biography

          Mexican soccer goalkeeper nicknamed “Tota” and also called “El Cinco Copas” in reference to his record of five World Cups played. After retiring as a player, he became a manager in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
          Carbajal died on 9 May 2023 at the age of 93 in Le¢n, Guanajuato. He had been hospitalised the week prior with blood pressure problems. From January 2023 until his death Carbajal was the last surviving player from the 1950 World Cup.
