German educator and politician.
In 1909 Siemsen received her Ph.D., in 1910. and in 1912 was qualified as a high school teacher.
In the years 1920/1921, she was Assistant Director for Technical and Vocational Education in Dusseldorf. In 1923 she received an honorary professorship at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, but in 1932, this honorary professorship was withdrawn. In 1933 she emigrated to Switzerland.
After the Second World War, Siemsen returned to Germany in and took over the management of a special course for the training of elementary school teachers. From 1947 to 1949 she held a teaching position for literature at the University of Hamburg. In subsequent years, from 1949 to 1951 she taught at the Pedagogical Institute of the University of Hamburg.
Siemsen worked from 1927 in the journal with the class struggle-Marxist leaves, was co-editor of the Young Socialist Series and had been a member of the German League for Human Rights and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom on. In 1926 she was one of the founding members of the SPD.
In the years 1931 to 1933 Anna Siemsen was a member of the SAPD.
During her time in exile in Switzerland she edited the female political magazine The woman in life and work. After her return to Germany she was from 1946 until her death a member of the SPD, where she was involved in the European project , in the Socialist Movement for the United States of Europe (the German section was renamed after her death, her honor in Anna Siemsen-circle).
She died 22 January 1951, Hamburg.
