Andrew Neil's Biography
British editor of “The Sunday Times,” who, when appointed, was Britain’s youngest editor of a national newspaper. In January 1990, he was awarded 1000 pounds libel damages against the “Sunday Telegraph.” Neil is one of Britain’s best-known journalists and arguably the most influential editor in the country.
Soon after he took his seat in the editor’s chart for “The Sunday Times,” he began making radical changes in its politics and pushing lifestyle content. When Neil left in 1994, he left behind a completely transformed publication, and then set his sights on revamping the Barclay Brothers’ Press Holdings, from his position of publisher in chief. Forthright and aggressive, he is unafraid of confrontation, and with a proven track record for successful business innovations, he doesn’t understand why people don’t trust that he knows what he’s doing. With right wing views himself, he seems to enjoy stirring up a good controversy, even provoking one by accusing several other media outlets in Britain of biasing the news to the left.
