French decorator, artistic director and film director.
He made his début as an actor in the theatre company of Jacques Copeau, appearing in several plays at the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier in 1917 and 1918.
As a film technician, he collaborated with, among others, Frank Borzage on L’heure suprême (1927, Hollywood), and Léo Joannon on Train de plaisir (1930).
He wrote several screenplays and made several films, including La Fine combine (1931), Trois artilleurs à l’opéra (1938), Les Clandestins (1945), Fausse identité (1947) and Alia et Issam (1948).
He died on 10 January 1954, aged 61, in Paris.
