          Adolphe Thiers's Biography

          French writer, a historian and the author of “Histoire de la Révolution Française” and “Histoire du Consulat et de l’Empire,” 1845-62. Thiers was the founder of Le National newspaper on 1 January 1830. He served as State Advisor, Deputy, Minister of the Interior, 1832-36 and President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs, 1836 and 1840. He was arrested after the ‘’coup d’état’’ of 2 December 1851 and exiled until 1852. He was elected President of the Republic on 31 December 1871; resigned in May 1873.
          Thiers died of a stroke at 6pm on 3 September 1877 at St. Germain en Laye, France.
