Adolf Sommerauer's Biography
German Lutheran pastor who rose to prominence through television in the 1960s and 1970s and became the nation’s pastor.
After his studies Sommerauer worked from 1933 first as a vicar, later as a pastor in Regensburg. He, who had already become known as a regular speaker on the ARD program “Das Wort zum Sonntag”, was given the program “Pfarrer Sommerauer antwortet” (Pastor Sommerauer Answers) in 1963, which ran at two-month intervals on ZDF until 1978. A total of exactly 100 30-minute broadcasts were produced. He also wrote numerous books, radio plays and a stage play on a wide variety of subjects.
Adolf Sommerauer died on 12 May 1995 in Munich at age 85.
