          Adolf Geßner's Biography

          German gynecologist who became an assistant physician at the Universitätsfrauenklinik in Berlin in 1893, and a private lecturer in Erlangen in 1897, and a full professor and director of the University Women’s Clinic and the Midwifery School in Erlangen. Under Gessner’s leadership, the University Women’s Clinic was significantly enlarged in 1902 by the inauguration of the western wing.
          He died on 20 January 1903, aged 38, in Erlangen.
