Frances Rafferty's Biography
American actress who began her career as a dancer. At age 19 she landed a contract with MGM and began appearing in dancing roles in movies. After injuring her leg, she turned to acting instead but was unable to break into star status. Her significant parts were limited almost exclusively to “B” movies.
She was the younger sister of California conservative educator and Republican politician Max Rafferty, whose wife was also named “Frances.”
During World War II she was a volunteer pin-up girl for YANK magazine, a publication for the soldiers of the United States military.
From 1954 to 1959, she appeared as Ruth Ruskin Henshaw in all 156 episodes of the Desilu Studios CBS sitcom December Bride.
She married John Harlan in 1944, divorcing three years later. In 1948 she married Thomas Baker; they had two children. She died at age 81 on 18 April 2004 in Paso Robles, California.
